Proof of funds now actively enforced at Thai airports

Thai immigration is now actively checking the long-standing funds requirement: 20,000 THB per person (~$550) or 40,000 THB per family.

This requirement existed for decades but was rarely enforced. Since late 2025, officers at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports are requesting proof, particularly from travelers flagged for frequent visits. Cash is preferred. Bank statements are accepted but phone banking app screenshots have been rejected at some counters. Physical bank print-outs or a letter from your bank showing balance work reliably. Credit card limits are generally not accepted as proof.
