The typical pattern: one or two people on a motorbike ride slowly alongside a pedestrian, then grab phone or bag and accelerate. Most common times: evenings 6-10pm, and late night after bars. Prevention: Walk with bags on the building side (away from traffic). Never use your phone while walking near roads. Crossbody anti-snatch bags work well.
